Ash Wednesday – 18th Feb
Lent this year begins on Wed. 18th Feb. We shall mark the start of the season of repentance and renewal with an opportunity to celebrate the Eucharist and receive the imposition of ashes. The regular 9.30am Holy Communion (BCP) will be held, together with an evening celebration of Holy Communion (CW) at 7.30pm. Do make an effort to come to one of these services so that we can support one another at the start of Lent.
Lent Resource – ‘Love Life, Live Lent’
Since 2007, over 400,000 people have used these booklets to change the world, one small action at a time. Launched in the Diocese of Birmingham in 2006, the Love Life Live Lent booklets help you be the change in your neighbourhood, workplace, or school by offering one simple action for each day of Lent to make the world a better place. Now in a new edition with 40 all new actions, Love Life Live Lent is available at the back of church in both Adult & Youth and Kids versions. Please take a copy home with you and use it every day during Lent; donations welcome to cover costs.
We are staging a Lent course of five sessions, starting the week beginning 23rd Feb. The course this year will use the Archbishop of Canterbury’s Lent book for 2015 – ‘ In God’s Hands ‘ by Archbishop Desmond Tutu (copies of the book are available for those attending the course – collect them this weekend. They cost £9.00, so donations appreciated). There will be two groups: an afternoon session, meeting at 2pm on Mons. at Doreen Chalmer’s home, 84 High St., Gt. Shelford; an evening group will meet at 7.30pm on Tues. at Anne Robert’s home, 68 High St., Gt. Shelford. Thanks to Anne and Doreen for being willing to act as hosts.
All Fridays 27th Feb at the Great Shelford Free Church, 6th March at All Saints, Little Shelford, 13th March, St Andrew’s Stapleford, 20th March, back to the Free Church and the last one on the 27th is us, in the Community Room. Please make a big effort to support these occasions.
