Reflection for August

All of us from time to time surely have visions, dreams, about how the world might be a better place, how there might be peace and justice for all and love might prevail over hate and strife. Such visions without a task, a will to do something and contribute towards that betterment, those visions stay as they are – just dreams.

We all have tasks, work is the rent we pay for life, but unless those tasks are linked to a vision a belief in the good of what we are doing, then the tasks remain drudgery.

Put a task to a vision and there is hope for the world. That may sound too optimistic, yet every day and in so many ways we see good people working to bring about the vision of betterment of life for the poor, the downtrodden, the war weary in places we could never visit nor directly involve ourselves.  Giving support by our prayers and our money is our part of the task to fulfil the vision, and if we share that vision we cannot realistically avoid this most pressing responsibility.
