Great Shelford Friendship Club
A social group for older men and women, new members and returners.
We meet in St. Mary’s Church Community Room from 2.15 for 2.30pm until about 4pm on Thursdays in term time. Regulars pay £2 subscription towards refreshments, room hire etc. at the beginning of meetings. Guests and new members are always welcome.
Our programme is guided by members’ interests and includes talks by local speakers, times to share games and jigsaws etc., and occasional gentle outings to places of interest.
The group is supported by St Mary’s Church and team, but is intended to offer friendship and varied interests/activities, with some seasonal events, rather than to supplement church endeavours.
Likely dates for 2023: 20th April to 6th July; 28th September to 21st December
Some additional activities may happen in summer and at other times.
Inquiries always invited: Rosey Feuell, Licensed Lay Minister, 01223 213305 / email@example.com.
The Pilgrim Group
Like pilgrims our group is journeying through life, taking time to stop and think and talk about our Christian Faith. Some of us have been Christians for many years, looking to revisit the roots of our faith, others have only recently started coming to church, wanting to learn more of what being a Christian really means. We usually follow a book written for a study group or choose a book from the bible as our starting point.
Examples of material we have used in the past include
Everyday God by Paula Gooder
Thy Will be Done by Stephen Cherry
Living Faithfully by John Pritchard
Dethroning Mammon by Justin Welby
Anne Roberts leads our group, with Julie Norris and other members taking a turn from time to time to lead the discussion.
Unless otherwise advised, we currently meet on Monday afternoons from 2.00p.m. in the Community Room.
